Frequently Asked Questions

Individual tutoring sessions are priced between $140 and $225 per hour, with the cost per session decreasing as you purchase more hours.

The ideal first step is to book a free consultation with one of our ISEE test prep experts. During the consultation, they can provide a detailed explanation of the pricing, logistics, materials, and other relevant information.

Test Innovators offers one-on-one tutoring to help students maximize their test scores through personalized instruction. Tutoring is done entirely online via Zoom. During tutoring sessions, the student will work with one of our expert tutors who specializes in ISEE test preparation. The tutor will tailor each lesson to the student’s specific needs, using the results from the student’s practice on the Test Innovators ISEE platform to inform the focus of their sessions. The lessons can also be recorded so the student can refer back to them as they practice. Additionally, our tutors provide notes on each session that you and your student can reference to see your student’s progress.

We hire only the absolute best tutors, accepting less than 1% of all applicants. Our tutors work with hundreds of students each year, and they are all exceptional educators with multiple years of tutoring and test prep experience.

Our tutors are also able to leverage the insights from the Test Innovators platform to analyze your student’s strengths and weaknesses as well as provide targeted instruction to help them reach their goals. Tutors create a personalized plan based on your student’s needs in addition to ongoing performance evaluations.

Tutoring is done online so your student can learn from anywhere. Our tutors have flexible schedules, so you can choose the times that work best for you. Tutors and students use colorful drawing tools to annotate on a shared screen or whiteboard, keeping students engaged with the material.

All sessions can be recorded and sent to families, allowing parents and students to review the material covered in each section. Tutors also keep track of each session in a detailed log that is sent to the family.

You can learn more about our team by checking out their tutor bios here:

To get started with tutoring, the first step is to schedule a free consultation. The consultation is a 20-minute, parent-focused chat in which an ISEE specialist will review your student’s progress in the context of their goals and provide recommendations for a tutoring or class plan that would best fit their needs.

The goal of the consultation is to understand your student’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, timeline for preparation, and schedule. You will also be able to discuss pricing options. If you have a baseline score from an ISEE practice test, sharing it with the consultant is helpful but not required.

Following the call, your consultant will reach out via email with recommendations for one or two tutors who they believe would be a good match for your student. They will also provide details on how to purchase tutoring hours and schedule sessions with the recommended tutors.

You can schedule a consultation here.

Your tutor will provide instructions on how to continue preparing for the ISEE between sessions. The Test Innovators platform allows your tutor to assign targeted homework, so your student will know exactly what to work on. The practice exercises are a great way for your student to focus on the areas that need the most improvement, and the practice tests are a helpful milestone toward your student’s target scores.

The first step in getting started with tutoring is to schedule a consultation with one of our test prep experts. This free, 20-minute phone call will help the consultant find a tutor who will be a good fit for your student in terms of goals, needs, and availability.

You can schedule a consultation here.

Once you have been connected with a tutor, you can purchase a prepaid tutoring package and schedule your sessions. We generally recommend 1-2 hour long sessions per week, depending on your timeline. You can schedule these sessions through Acuity.

Learn more about scheduling with Acuity and creating an Acuity account here.

Once you have scheduled your first session, you will receive a link to your tutoring log along with additional information about communicating with your tutor and managing reschedules/cancelations. This log is where your tutor will take detailed notes on each session, as well as post the link to your session recordings if you request them.

If you need any assistance along the way, the Test Innovators support team is here to help. You can reach us at support@testinnovators.com, or by phone at 1-800-280-1857 (between the hours of 9am-5pm ET).

There are two primary differences between our group classes and one-on-one tutoring— the level of individualized attention and the amount of time spent on the materials.

Group ISEE classes last for 2-3 hours depending on the session and are limited to 15 students. Classes are structured to follow a specific lesson plan that covers ISEE content and strategy that our team considers broadly helpful and applicable. There are opportunities for students to ask questions, but it is meant to be a broad overview to be as helpful to as many students as possible.

You can learn more about the Classes that we offer at the link below:

One-on-one tutoring is much more focused on the individual needs of the student, which allows the tutor to tailor instruction to them specifically.

If you are on the fence, we would recommend scheduling a tutoring consultation, as our test prep experts do a great job of explaining the differences between 1-on-1 ISEE tutoring and group ISEE classes, and can provide a recommendation based on your family’s needs.

Since each student has different needs, no two sessions will look exactly the same, as the goal is to meet each student where they are so that they can optimize their scores. To start, your tutor will review your student’s ISEE diagnostic test results to establish a proper baseline and to isolate areas to focus on.

Over the course of the following sessions, your tutor will focus on targeted practice, building subject and test-taking skill mastery. The primary focus of these sessions is to help students learn to apply their understanding of various concepts within the context of the test, and to develop a strong understanding of the test so that they feel confident in their ability to be successful.

To accomplish this goal, your tutor will employ a number of different tools. They will utilize a collaborative mark-up tool that will allow both the tutor and your student to make notes on materials that the tutor is screen-sharing. They may also provide targeted homework assignments to be completed in between sessions.

Below is an overview of the steps involved in our tutoring process.

  1. Schedule a free consultation
  2. Purchase a tutoring package
  3. Schedule your tutoring sessions
  4. Meet with your tutor
  5. Complete homework between sessions

Because our tutors use the Test Innovators platform to leverage scoring and analytical data, they are able to identify your student’s specific strengths and weaknesses to provide targeted instruction, which helps maximize your student’s score.

Tutoring technology: We use Zoom for all of our sessions. All sessions can be recorded and made available for students and parents to review.

Ongoing communication: Tutors will leave notes for you after each session in a detailed session log.

Flexible scheduling: Sessions are held online, making it convenient to fit into your student’s schedule

We do not have a way for you to meet with your tutor before you book a session. If you would like to meet the tutor before instruction begins, you’re welcome to join the first session with your student for the first 10-15 minutes of the session. Or, you can schedule a 30-minute session with your tutor. Our tutoring team does not offer free phone calls or meetings outside of their scheduled tutoring hours.

You can also reach out to your tutor via email before your first tutoring session with any questions, but please keep in mind that due to the nature of our tutor’s schedules, they do not have a specific time that is built in to respond to emails. We ask that tutors reply to emails within one business day, but this is not always possible. We encourage our tutors to prioritize instruction preparation and session time with their students. If you need any additional support, you can always reach out to our Support team as well at support@testinnovators.com.

For any questions about our tutoring services, please reach out to us at 1-800-280-1857 or tutoring@testinnovators.com.
